It is a left tributary of the Dubna River (Volga basin). Its source is the Senezh Lake. The length of the river is {{convert|138|km|mi|abbr=on}}. The area of its basin is {{convert|2,680|km2|sqmi|abbr=on}}. The river freezes in November to early January and stays under the ice until late March or April. Its main tributary is the Yakhroma River.
