Pennsylvania Combined Statistical Areas

There are several metropolitan and micropolitan areas as well as combined statistical areas located within the state of Pennsylvania. Most of the areas are located within the borders of the state, with the exception of a few metro areas that make of larger statistical areas. New York City and the Philadelphia metro areas expand to cover parts of other states, including Pennsylvania. The United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has defined 366 Metropolitan Statistical Areas or (MSAs) and 576 Micropolitan Statistical Areas or (μSAs) in the United States. Within the State of Pennsylvania there are 16 Metro Areas and 21 Micro Areas.
