It was published in Paris by Les Éditions du Seuil in 2003, and has been translated into English and Spanish. ReceptionNicholas Lezard, in The Guardian, said of the English translation: "there was a Lobster-shaped hole in world literature which has now been neatly filled by this remarkable work".[1] In The Daily Telegraph, Sam Leith put it in a list of 'Mad Stuff'.[2] Kirkus Reviews called it a "brief, bizarre, boiling broth of surrealism, romantic fatalism and slapstick",[3] and Publisher's Weekly said it was "both tender and appalling".[4]References1. ^{{cite news|last=Lezard|first=Nicholas|title=Cooked to perfection|url=https://www.theguardian.com/books/2005/jul/09/featuresreviews.guardianreview33|newspaper=The Guardian|date=9 July 2005}} {{2000s-hist-novel-stub}}{{2000s-erotic-novel-stub}}2. ^{{cite news|last=Leith|first=Sam|title=Mad Stuff|url=https://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/3648493/Mad-stuff.html|newspaper=The Telegraph|date=5 December 2005}} 3. ^{{cite journal|title=An erotic shellfish fable.|journal=Kirkus Reviews|date=1 Nov 2005|url=https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/guillaume-lecasble/lobster/}} 4. ^{{cite journal|title=Lobster|journal=Publishers Weekly|date=10 October 2005}} 5 : French erotic novels|French novellas|Novels about RMS Titanic|Novels about animals|2005 novels |
