History

{{refimprove section|date=July 2017}}

Longfleet School was originally located opposite St Mary's Church on Longfleet Road, but moved during the late 20th century to its present site which was constructed by Dean & Dyball and opened in 1996. The old school buildings were demolished and are now the car park for St Mary's new church centre building and site of The Adam Practice, all that remains are the school gates some fencing and the back wall of the main building that runs along a lane behind, the pond was filled in with rubble now under a car park. Longfleet was different in that it never had its own playing field for sport and would use Poole Park cycle track for running events, when the new school facility opened a football match was organised between pupils and local professional team AFC Bournemouth.

The school was originally under control by Dorset County Council now Poole Borough Council following a review by the Local Government Commission for England (1992).

The school remained mainly open during the Teachers' Strike of 17 October 2013.[4]

On 1 July 2016, the school changed its status from voluntary controlled to become an academy.[5]
