The Luke A. Church House is the oldest house in Modesto, California.[1] It was originally built in 1865[1] or 1868[2] in Paradise by Luke Ancil Church (December 28, 1831 – February 6, 1901), who used lumber from his hotel at Don Pedro Bar.[2] In 1870, Church moved the house to Modesto,[2] where it currently stands at 302 Burney Street.[3] References1. ^1 {{cite news|last1=Farrow|first1=Deke|title=Downtown Modesto garden is thick with history|url=http://www.modbee.com/incoming/article3119168.html|accessdate=March 10, 2015|work=The Modesto Bee|date=April 11, 2009}} {{Modesto, California}}{{coord missing|Stanislaus County, California}}2. ^1 2 {{cite book|last1=Tinkham|first1=George H.|title=History of Stanislaus County California: With Biographical Sketches of the Leading Men and Women of the County who Have Been Identified with Its Growth and Development from the Early Days to the Present|date=1921|publisher=Historic Record Company|pages=402-405|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=KRc1AQAAMAAJ&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=false|accessdate=10 March 2015}} 3. ^{{cite book|last1=Maino|first1=Jeannette Gould|title=One hundred years: Modesto, California, 1870-1970|date=1970|publisher=Belt Print. & Lithograph Co.|page=61|accessdate=10 March 2015}} 4 : Buildings and structures in Modesto, California|Houses completed in 1870|Houses in Stanislaus County, California|History of Stanislaus County, California |
