She later trained Geneviève Gambillon, who won two world titles in road racing in 1972 and 1974.[2] Herse's father, René Herse, was a manufacturer of cycles and she and her husband Jean Desbois took over his business on his death in 1976. The company ceased production in 1986, and in 2007 Herse sold the brand to an American company.[2][2] Herse died in Osny, Val-d'Oise, on 4 January 2018, aged 89 years.[3] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.cyclingarchives.com/coureurfiche.php?coureurid=26355 |title=Lyli Herse |accessdate=12 August 2016 |work=Cycling Archives}} {{French National Road Race Championships (women) |state=collapsed}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Herse, Lily}}{{France-cycling-bio-1920s-stub}}2. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.compasscycle.com/rene-herse/|title=The Rene Herse Story|website=Compass Cycles|access-date=6 January 2018}} 3. ^1 2 3 4 {{Cite news|url=https://www.lequipe.fr/Cyclisme-sur-route/Actualites/Mort-de-lily-herse-90-ans/864105|title=Mort de Lyli Herse (90 ans)|last=G.|first=J.-L.|work=L'ÉQUIPE|access-date=6 January 2018|language=fr-FR}} 4 : 1928 births|2018 deaths|French female cyclists|Sportspeople from Caen |
