The village is part of the municipality Den Dungen, south east of 's-Hertogenbosch. The village has about 1,600 inhabitants. Maaskantje is linked together with the village Den Dungen. Before 1996, Maaskantje was part of the municipality of Sint-Michielsgestel instead of the municipality of Den Dungen. In 1996, Den Dungen became part of Sint-Michielsgestel.
