The Shugart bus is the de facto standard for floppy disk drive interfaces created by Shugart Associates. It encompasses a 50-pin interface for 8-inch disk drives, and a 34-pin for {{frac|5|1|4}}-, {{frac|3|1|2}}- and 3-inch disk drives. Shugart 50-pin and 34-pin are similar in pinout. However the 34-pin used in {{frac|5|1|4}}-inch drives is not similar to the IBM PC type {{frac|5|1|4}}-inch format.
