Inflorescences bear up to eight flowers. The fruits are yellowish-grey, subglobose, up to {{convert|2|cm|in|0|abbr=on}} in diameter. The specific epithet {{lang|la|prolixa}} is from the Latin meaning "expanded", referring to the inflorescences. Habitat is lowland mixed dipterocarp forest from sea-level to {{convert|200|m}} altitude.
