The Madison Curling Club (MCC) is a curling club located in McFarland, Wisconsin, United States. With 570 members as of February 2014, MCC is the curling club with the third largest membership in the United States.[1]

History

The Madison Curling Club was established in 1921. For the club's first eight years games were played under the bleachers at Camp Randall Stadium. In 1930 the club moved to Burr Jones Field in Madison. In 1997 the club moved into their current facility in William McFarland Park in McFarland.[2][3] The MCC has had at least one member curl for Team USA in every Winter Olympics since curling was instated as a full Olympic sport in 1998.[1]

Leagues

Through the curling season Madison Curling Club members participate in leagues including Men's, Women's, Open (mixed men and women), Doubles, and Instructional. MCC members are assigned a point value based on their experience and skill. Many leagues have a point cap not to be exceeded by each team.[4]

Botham Event

The Botham Event is an open league with no point cap. It began in 1975. The Botham Event is considered the top league at the MCC.

Leifer Event

The Leifer Event is an open league with a 56-point cap. It began in 2001.

V.I.C.E.

The V.I.C.E. (Very Important Curling Event) is a women's league with a 48-point cap. It began in 1986 with a 4-year gap from 1999-2002 .

Mansfield Event

The Mansfield Event is a men's league with a 43-point cap. It began in 1948.

President's Cup Event

The President's Cup Event is a women's league with no point cap. It began in 1976.

Toories Event

The Toories Event is a women's league with no point cap. It began in 1990.

National and International Championships

Teams organized out of the Madison Curling Club have won 6 United States Men's Curling Championships and 15 United States Women's Curling Championships.
