Tentative data indicate that oral magnesium supplementation may help prevent or improve depression.[1]

Although there appears to be sufficient evidence to implicate inadequate dietary Mg as contributing to the cause of MD; independent clinical trials are needed to confirm the efficacy of Mg in treating MD.[1][2]
