Marriage and issueMahmud is married to Genevieve Robson. Upon marriage Genevieve took the Turkish name Inci and the title Hanımefendi. They have two sons, Şehzade Ziyaeddin Reşad, born in London on 6 June 2012, and Şehzade Ömer Cem, born in London on 5 August 2015. LifeMahmud was born in London on 27 April 1975. He attended Gulliver Preparatory High School in Miami, Florida, and Mougins School in Mougins, in the southern part of France. He then obtained a BFA degree in Visual Communications from Parsons Paris School of Art and Design (Paris, France) and an MFA degree in Design and Technology from Parsons The New School for Design (New York City, USA). Resurgence of interest in the Ottoman dynastyIn 2006, Ottoman family members met at Dolmabahçe Palace for the presentation of the documentary "Osmanoğlu'nun Exile" produced by TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Corporation).[7] This documentary followed the stories of the members of the Ottoman family who went into exile in 1924, following the establishment of the Turkish Republic and the abolition of the Ottoman Caliphate. It then follows the stories of their descendants, who now live in Turkey, Europe, the United States and throughout the Middle East.[8][9] At the funeral of Ertuğrul Osman, an heir to the Ottoman throne, in September 2009 thousands of mourners paid their respects, a show of reverence which historians said was a seminal moment in the rehabilitation of the Ottoman Empire, overthrown by the modern, secular Turkish Republic created by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1923.[10] In July 2010, Ayşe Gülnev Osmanoğlu held a party to celebrate the 70th birthday of her father Şehzade Osman Selaheddin Osmanoğlu.
