}}Manteo Mitchell (born July 6, 1987) is an American athlete who specializes in the 200m and 400m. He was a member of the USA team that won the gold medal in the Men's 4×400 metres relay (splitting 45.7) at the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships.[1]

Mitchell did not start running track until he was in high school. He attended Crest High School in Shelby, North Carolina where he was a standout, high recruited wide receiver. After high school he gained an athletic scholarship at Western Carolina University where he broke numerous school records and reached the NCAA Outdoor Championship three out of four years. Mitchell is the most decorated athlete in school history. He was also initiated as a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity while at Western Carolina. Mitchell currently resides in Asheville, North Carolina. He is currently being coached by his former college coach Danny Williamson.

The person you see on the track is the same off the track, always with an infectious smile and a love for fun. Manteo is very family-oriented and balances his training and philanthropy with interests in fashion and singing. He is an international icon and travels the world spreading his story of Faith Focus Finish. He is an Athlete Ambassador for Incrediwear, has been featured on television shows, in commercials, and does sports analyst work for NBC Sports.

At the 2012 United States Olympic Trials, Mitchell qualified for the Olympic team by finishing fifth in the 400 metres with a time of 44.96, which qualified him to run in the 4x400 metres relay as a member of the U.S. relay team. At the 2012 Summer Olympics held in London, Mitchell ran the first leg of the heat for the 4x400 metres relay and revealed afterwards that he broke his left fibula at the 200m mark. Despite this, Manteo finished his lap and clocked a time of 45.7, and the American team was able to qualify for the final.[2][3] Mitchell later earned a silver medal after the American team placed second in the final.
