Maria Anne Hirschmann is a Czechoslovak-American evangelist, author and public speaker.

Hirschmann was caught in the events of World War II when the Nazis invaded Czechoslovakia and the local Sudeten German population came under the influence of Nazism. When the Soviets came, she managed to escape to American-occupied Germany. Later she emigrated to America as a teacher and wrote a book about her life, which was also adapted as a comic book, Hansi, the Girl who Loved the Swastika, published by Spire Christian Comics.

Hirschmann has written several other books, and founded Hansi Ministries in 1974.[1]

Controversy

In 2009, Hirschmann's scheduled appearance at a US Air Force Academy symposium was canceled. An interviewer noted she "repeatedly says that [then-]President Barack Obama and Adolf Hitler hold similar ideas, and that Obama is paving the way for the Antichrist."[2]
