He is the son of former South Melbourne and Richmond player, John Pitura. After playing two games for Richmond in 1993, he spent 1995 playing for the Essendon reserves. In the 1996 Pre-season Draft, Collingwood drafted Pitura with the 9th selection but he did not play a league game for Collingwood and was delisted mid-way through the 1996 season.[2] References1. ^{{Ref AFL Encyc|4th|523}} 2. ^{{cite news|url=http://newsstore.fairfax.com.au/apps/viewDocument.ac?page=1&sy=nstore&docID=news960520_0217_1833 |title=Brown sidelined for 2 weeks|first=Greg |last=Denham|first2= Stephen |last2=Rielly|date= 20 May 1996|work=The Age}} External links
