CareerYouth and amateurHe represented Eastern Province at the 2005 Under-16 Grant Khomo Week and 2007 Under-18 Craven Week tournaments. He joined the {{Rut Free State Cheetahs}} in 2008 and played for the {{Rut Free State U19}} side in 2008 and the {{Rut Free State U21}} side in 2011. He was also a member of the {{Rut UFS Shimlas}} squad for the 2010 Varsity Cup competition, but failed to make an appearance. He did however play in that competition for the {{Rut NMMU Madibaz}}, making 28 appearances between 2011 and 2014. SWD EaglesHe was included in the {{Rut SWD Eagles}} squad for the 2011 Currie Cup First Division and made his debut in a compulsory friendly against the {{Rut Sharks}}.[2] He made eight starts and one substitute appearance in the competition proper, scoring three tries.
