}} Matthew Elliot Jones (born December 5, 1994) is an American basketball player for the Stockton Kings of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for Duke University. High school careerDuring Jones's career at DeSoto High School, the team had a 131–18 record, and he was named All-State, 2nd team All-American from MaxPreps, and played in both the Jordan Classic and the McDonald's All-American Game. College careerJones was on Duke's 2014–15 NCAA Championship team.[1] After Rasheed Sulaimon was dismissed, Jones was moved into the starting lineup. “I’ve definitely tried to grasp it and take ahold of it,” Jones said.. “Obviously we didn’t want Rasheed to leave, but at the same time, personally, I was ecstatic about it. I just told myself that it was my moment now, and I had to just take advantage of it.”[2] In the Elite Eight, he scored 16 points, going 4-for-7 on three-pointers in a win against Gonzaga. As a result, he was named to the South Region all-tournament team.[3] The all-regional performance came at NRG Stadium in Houston, just over 3 hours away from Jones' home in DeSoto, Texas.[4] Professional careerAfter going undrafted, Jones joined the Reno Bighorns of the NBA G League.[5] He remained on the team as it became the Stockton Kings.[6] Personal lifeHe has two sisters and a brother. One sister, Jordan, also played in the McDonald's high school basketball game—they are the 3rd brother/sister duo to play in that all star game.[7] References{{Commons category|Matt Jones}}1. ^{{cite web|title=13 - Matt Jones|url=http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=209273483|website=Duke Blue Devils|publisher=Duke University|accessdate=April 25, 2015}} {{Stockton Kings current roster}}{{2015 Duke Blue Devils men's basketball navbox}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Jones, Matt}}2. ^{{cite news|last1=Keeley|first1=Laura|title=Matt Jones, Justise Winslow thriving for Duke in Rasheed Sulaimon’s absence|url=http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/acc/duke/article11379203.html#storylink=cpy|accessdate=June 11, 2015|work=The News & Observer|date=February 27, 2015}} 3. ^{{cite news|last1=Keeley|first1=Laura|title=Duke guard Matt Jones finds his stroke against Gonzaga|url=http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/acc/duke/article16950935.html|accessdate=June 11, 2015|work=The News & Observer|date=March 30, 2015}} 4. ^{{cite news|last1=Kuzydym|first1=Stephanie|title=Duke's Jones addresses cravings for Whataburger, regional title|url=http://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/article/Jones-feels-right-at-home-in-leading-Duke-to-6166966.php|accessdate=June 22, 2015|work=Houston Chronicle|date=March 29, 2015}} 5. ^{{cite news |last1=Krajewski |first1=Jim |title=Second season: Reno Bighorns ready for G-League playoffs |url=https://www.rgj.com/story/sports/2018/03/30/reno-bighorns-ready-playoffs/474800002/ |accessdate=September 9, 2018 |work=Reno Gazette Journal |date=March 30, 2018}} 6. ^{{cite news |last1=Ramirez |first1=Jordan |title=Matt Jones Ready to Contribute at Any Level |url=https://www.nba.com/kings/blog/matt-jones-ready-contribute-any-level |accessdate=September 9, 2018 |work=NBA.com |date=July 11, 2018}} 7. ^ 12 : 1994 births|Living people|American men's basketball players|Basketball players at the 2015 NCAA Men's Division I Final Four|Basketball players from Texas|Duke Blue Devils men's basketball players|McDonald's High School All-Americans|People from DeSoto, Texas|Reno Bighorns players|Shooting guards|Sportspeople from the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex|Stockton Kings players |
