Maurus Wolter (4 June 1825, Bonn – 8 July 1890, Beuron) was the first abbot of the Benedictine Beuron Archabbey, which he founded with his brother Placidus in 1863. [1]BiographyWolter implemented his vision of a liturgical life by emphasizing a return to the original sources of monastic tradition.[1] Wolter was also one of the founders of the Beuron Art School.
