It was newly delineated for the 2010 census, at which time its population was 3,051.[1] GeographyAccording to the U.S. Census Bureau, Melwood has a total area of {{convert|7.3|sqkm|disp=flip|2}}, all land.[2] The CDP is located directly to the east of Andrews Air Force Base. EducationMelwood residents are assigned to schools in Prince George's County Public Schools.[3] The zoned schools are Melwood Elementary School,[4] James Madison Middle School,[5] and Dr. Henry A.
