She raced to seventh place by two tenths of a second behind Nicaragua's Geraldine Arce in 28.93. De Silva failed to advance into the semifinals, as she placed fifty-second overall out of 75 swimmers on the last day of preliminaries.[5][6] References1. ^{{cite sports-reference|Menaka de Silva|https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/de/menaka-de-silva-1.html|7 May 2013}} {{DEFAULTSORT:de Silva, Menaka}}{{SriLanka-swimming-bio-stub}}2. ^{{cite news|last=Jayakody |first=Sajeewa |title=13-year-old Kimiko sets National Record |url=http://www.dailynews.lk/2012/09/24/spo01.asp |publisher=Daily News (Sri Lanka) |date=24 September 2012 |accessdate=7 May 2013 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120926225543/http://www.dailynews.lk/2012/09/24/spo01.asp |archivedate=26 September 2012 |df= }} 3. ^{{cite web|title=Swimming – Women's 50m Freestyle Startlist (Heat 4)|url=http://www.omegatiming.com/File/Download?id=000104060049000000FFFFFFFFFFFF00|format=PDF|work=Athens 2004|publisher=Omega Timing|accessdate=19 April 2013}} 4. ^{{cite news|last=Weerawansa |first=Dinesh |title=Big experience, says Menaka |url=http://www.dailynews.lk/2004/08/24/spo08.html |publisher=Daily News (Sri Lanka) |date=24 August 2004 |accessdate=7 May 2013 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20050422092716/http://www.dailynews.lk/2004/08/24/spo08.html |archivedate=22 April 2005 |df= }} 5. ^{{cite web|title=Women's 50m Freestyle Heat 4|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics_2004/swimming/results/3535060.stm|work=Athens 2004|publisher=BBC Sport|date=20 August 2004|accessdate=31 January 2013}} 6. ^{{cite news|last=Thomas |first=Stephen |title=Women's 50 Freestyle, Prelims Day 7: Inky Sizzles in World Best 24.66, Joyce Next in PR 25.06, Jenny Thompson Makes It Too |url=http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/7915.asp |publisher=Swimming World Magazine |date=20 August 2004 |accessdate=19 April 2013 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120204111631/http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/7915.asp |archivedate= 4 February 2012 |df= }} 7 : 1985 births|Living people|Sri Lankan female swimmers|Olympic swimmers of Sri Lanka|Swimmers at the 2004 Summer Olympics|Female freestyle swimmers|Sportspeople from Colombo |
