词条 | Menander (gnostic) |
释义 |
When the Simonians divided during the Gnostic schism, Menander called his part of the sect Menandrians, holding the belief that the world was made by angels. His ideas contrasted with those of Satornilus and the Satornilians, who believed the world was made by only seven angels against the will of a "Father on high".[6] Menander held that a water baptism was essential as the source for eternal youth.[7] Menander held solid to the belief that as head of the church, he was the savior and Power of God. Menander maintained that "the primary power continues unknown to all but that he himself is the person who has been sent forth from the presence of the invisible beings as a savior, for the deliverance of men".[8] Other magicians including Basilides and Cerdo became followers of Menander and were said to have "given immense development to his doctrines" with differing ethical consequences.[2] It has been suggested that some of those who tried to interpret the doctrines of Menander, such as Justin Martyr and Irenaeus, took things far too literally. Irenaeus for instance, claimed that those in receipt of Menander's water baptism no longer grew old and became immortal.[5] References1. ^{{cite book|author=Joseph B Tyson|title=Marcion and Luke-acts: A Defining Struggle|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=MU2U08v6aq0C&pg=PA29|accessdate=9 May 2013|year=2006|publisher=Univ of South Carolina Press|isbn=978-1-57003-650-7|pages=29–}} 2. ^1 {{cite book|author=G. van Groningen|title=First Century Gnosticism: Its Origin and Motifs|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=kMgUAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA144|accessdate=9 May 2013|year=1967|publisher=Brill Archive|pages=144–|id=GGKEY:U5J7K6Y11UY}} 3. ^{{cite book|author=Saint Epiphanius (Bishop of Constantia in Cyprus)|title=The Panarion of Epiphanius of Salamis: Book I (sects 1-46)|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=IKyxt9kyys8C&pg=PA59|accessdate=9 May 2013|year=2009|publisher=BRILL|isbn=978-90-04-17017-9|pages=59–}} 4. ^{{cite book|author=Alberto Ferreiro|title=Simon Magus in Patristic, Medieval And Early Modern Traditions|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=eX3oFohttG8C&pg=PA44|accessdate=9 May 2013|year=2005|publisher=BRILL|isbn=978-90-04-14495-8|pages=44–}} 5. ^1 {{cite book|title=The Early Christian Church|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=gT88AAAAIAAJ&pg=PA315|accessdate=9 May 2013|publisher=CUP Archive|pages=315–|id=GGKEY:U6Y4PUATGJB}} 6. ^{{cite book|author=Saint Epiphanius (Bishop of Constantia in Cyprus)|title=The Panarion of Epiphanius of Salamis: Book I (sects 1-46)|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=IKyxt9kyys8C&pg=PA59|accessdate=9 May 2013|year=2009|publisher=BRILL|isbn=978-90-04-17017-9|pages=59–}} 7. ^{{cite book|author=Robert McQueen Grant|title=Augustus to Constantine: the rise and triumph of Christianity in the Roman world|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=d_vxEB7nT_QC&pg=PA34|accessdate=9 May 2013|year=2004|publisher=Westminster John Knox Press|isbn=978-0-664-22772-2|pages=34–}} 8. ^{{cite book|author=G. van Groningen|title=First Century Gnosticism: Its Origin and Motifs|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=kMgUAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA144|accessdate=9 May 2013|year=1967|publisher=Brill Archive|pages=144–|id=GGKEY:U5J7K6Y11UY}} 6 : Gnostics|Occultists|Ancient Christians involved in controversies|Ancient occultists|1st-century Asian people|Ancient Samaritan people |
