Merav Michaeli ({{lang-he-n|מירב מיכאלי}}; born 24 November 1966) is an Israeli Knesset member and a former journalist, TV anchor, radio broadcaster and activist.

Merav Michaeli was born in Petah Tikva.[1] She is the granddaughter of Rudolf Kastner.[1]

MK Michaeli is chair of the Caucus for Female Knesset Members, and a member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.[2]

Prior to entering politics, Michaeli was known as one of Israel's most prominent journalists and an opinion columnist for Haaretz newspaper.[4]

Michaeli has taught university classes and lectured extensively on the topics of feminism, media, and communications. A longtime advocate for women's and minority rights, she is known for her ability to consistently challenge conventional views and positions.

In September 2012, Michaeli spoke at TEDxJaffa on the theme of "paradigm shift", in which she argued for society to "cancel marriage".[3] In October 2012, she announced that she was joining the Labor Party, and intended to run for inclusion on Labor's list for the 2013 general election.[4] On November 29 Michaeli won fifth place on the Labor Party's roster[5] and was elected to the Knesset when Labor won 15 seats.[6]

In preparation for the 2015 general election the Labor and Hatnuah parties merged to form the Zionist Union. Michaeli won the 9th slot on the new party's list, and was elected to the Knesset when Zionist Union won 24 seats.[7][8]

Her partner is the television producer, host and comedian Lior Schleien.[9]
