It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is {{convert|1088|km2|sp=us}}.[2] Its administrative center is the town of Mglin.[3] Population: {{ru-census2010|19,458|;}} 22,551 (2002 Census);[5] {{su-census1989|24,564|.}} The population of Mglin accounts for 40.7% of the district's total population.
