Michael Kehoe (June 22, 1899 – January 8, 1977),[1] Wexford, was the 16th president of the Gaelic Athletic Association (1949–1952). Born in Wexford, Kehoe took part in the Easter Uprising there. Active in the Irish language movement, Kehoe was co-founder of Coláiste Charman, which taught Irish from the 1930s to the 1970s.[2] Kehoe was involved in Leinster Council for over 50 years, and was Chairman from 1942 to 1944. The Kehoe Cup, an inter-county hurling competition in Leinster, was named in his honour in 1977.[1] In 1984, to mark the centenary of the GAA, 50,000 ash trees were planted to commemorate the memories of Kehoe and Patrick Breen.[3] {{CC-notice|cc=by3|url=http://larnapairce.ie/presidents-of-the-gaa-michael-kehoe/}}References1. ^1 {{cite book |last=Kelleher |first=Humphrey |date=2013 |title=GAA Family Silver |url=http://gaafamilysilver.ie/ |location= |publisher=Sportsfile Publishing |pages=154–155 |isbn=978-1-905468-24-9 |accessdate=2014-09-22 }} {{s-start}}{{s-sports}}{{succession box|title=President of the Gaelic Athletic Association|before=Daniel O'Rourke |after=Vincent O'Donoghue |years=1949-1952}}{{s-end}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Kehoe, Michael}}{{GAA-bio-stub}}2. ^https://www.facebook.com/gaelscoilgoreypa/posts/607872685940524 3. ^http://www.askaboutireland.ie/reading-room/sports-recreation/sport/wexford-hurling/ash-plantations/ 3 : 1899 births|1977 deaths|Gaelic Athletic Association Presidents |
