He played CIS football at Acadia University and attended St. Paul's High School in Winnipeg.[1] He has also been a member of the Edmonton Eskimos and Toronto Argonauts. Professional careerEdmonton EskimosBenson was signed by the Edmonton Eskimos on June 11, 2012. He was released by the Eskimos on June 17, 2012.[2] He signed with the Eskimos on October 18, 2012.[3] Toronto ArgonautsBenson signed with the Toronto Argonauts on June 1, 2014. He was released by the Argonauts on June 22, 2014.[4] BC LionsBenson was signed by the BC Lions on August 31, 2014.[5] During his fourth year as the Lions long snapper, Benson recovered a muffed punt that he had snapped and which Edmonton wideout Brandon Zylstra failed to secure. Benson returned the ball for a touchdown against his former team.[6] Benson received a one year contract extension to remain with the Lions on January 11 of 2018.[7] During 6 years in the CFL and 84 games played, Benson has also accumulated 16 tackles on special teams.
