The Modern Ukrainian language ({{lang-uk|Сучасна українська мова}}) is the form of the Ukrainian language commonly used since the late 17th century.[1] After the Truce of Andrusovo in 1667, the "simple speech" ({{lang-uk|проста мова}}), or the commonly spoken vernacular language of Ukraine, began to be written down and widely used in official documents of the Cossack Hetmanate.[2] The first printed work in the modern Ukrainian language is Eneyida by Ivan Kotlyarevskiy, and is also credited to be the first book of modern Ukrainian literature.[3] Hramatka by Panteleimon Kulish, published in 1857 is one of the first textbooks of the modern Ukrainian language.[4] The Ukrainian Academy of Sciences (now called the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) was created in 1918 by the Ukrainian State to study and regulate the Ukrainian language.[5] References1. ^Ю.
