Swimming against Qatar's Osama Mohammed Ye Alarag and the Cook Islands' Petero Okotai in the opening heat, Al-Habsi touched with a lifetime best of 1:12.28 to take the runner-up position by less than two seconds behind the Qatari swimmer Ye Alarag. Al-Habsi, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as he placed sixty-second in the overall rankings.[2] References1. ^{{cite sports-reference|Mohammed Al-Habsi|https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/al/mohammed-al-habsi-1.html|23 December 2012}} 2. ^{{cite web|title=Men's 100m Breaststroke – Heat 1 |url=http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/swimming/resultsandschedules/rsc=SWM031900/index.html |publisher=NBC Olympics |accessdate=23 December 2012 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120821062328/http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/swimming/resultsandschedules/rsc%3DSWM031900/index.html |archivedate=21 August 2012 |df= }} External links
