The population as of the 2010 census was 174.[1] It is located in southeastern Garfield County, in the valley of the Roaring Fork River. It is bordered to the east by Catherine. Colorado State Highway 82 forms the northern edge of the Mulford CDP, leading northwest {{convert|14|mi}} to Glenwood Springs, the county seat, and southeast {{convert|27|mi}} to Aspen. The town of Carbondale is {{convert|3|mi|0}} to the west.
