Number of speakers: 6,000 (1998), of them 3,000 are monolinguals. Speakers also use Dobu, Kilivila or Misima-Paneati. Latin script is used. Dialects included Yanaba, Lougaw (Gawa), Wamwan, Nawyem, Iwa. Iwa dialect is transitional between Muyuw and Kilivila. Lexical similarity 68% with Kilivila.
