It is one of the most massive known binary star systems and a leading candidate for a massive star merger. MY Cam is the brightest star in Alicante 1.[4] The system consists of two hot blue O-type stars with one component having a mass of 32 solar masses and the other 38 solar masses. MY Cam is a contact binary and eclipsing binary, with an orbital period of 1.2 days, and an orbital velocity of {{convert|1000000|kph|mph|abbr=on}}.[4] References1. ^1 {{cite journal|bibcode=1998A&A...335L..65H|title=The TYCHO Reference Catalogue|journal=Astronomy and Astrophysics|volume=335|pages=L65|author1=Hog|first1=E.|last2=Kuzmin|first2=A.|last3=Bastian|first3=U.|last4=Fabricius|first4=C.|last5=Kuimov|first5=K.|last6=Lindegren|first6=L.|last7=Makarov|first7=V.
