History

The club was founded in 2006 by the staff of supermarket chain Nakumatt. They were promoted to the kenya premier league in 2017 and managed to survive in the league that season after beating Ushuru 2-1 on aggregate in the playoffs despite going through a financial crisis. The club was purchased in April of 2018 by Politician Francis Mureithi and renamed Mt. Kenya United in November 2018.

Stadium

Located about 15 km from the city center along Thika road the team currently plays its home games at Moi International Sports Complex.
