释义 |
The National Theater was a Yiddish theatre at the southwest corner of Second Avenue (Chrystie) and Houston Street in the Yiddish Theater District in Manhattan, New York City, United States.[1] When first built it was leased to Boris Thomashefsky and Julius Adler.[2] Its grand opening as the Adler-Thomashefsky National Theatre was on September 24, 1912.[2][3] The theatre was one of the many designed by architect Thomas W. Lamb, and seated 1,900 when it opened. It was built as one of a pair of theatres, with the Crown Theater, seating 963, on the upper level. Both theatres closed in 1941, re-opened in 1951 as a pair of cinemas (the National Theater and the Roosevelt Theater), and were demolished in 1959.[4] References1. ^{{cite web | url=http://gridskipper.com/archives/entries/59603/59603.php | first=Joshua David | last=Stein | title=See the Lower East Side: If Not Now, When? | work=Gridskipper | date=26 January 2007 | accessdate=2011-03-27 | deadurl=yes | archiveurl=https://archive.is/20130125010815/http://gridskipper.com/archives/entries/59603/59603.php | archivedate=25 January 2013 | df=dmy-all }} {{Use dmy dates|date=March 2011}}{{coord|40|43|24.42|N|73|59|29.1|W|region:US-NY_dim:3km|display=title}}{{US-theat-struct-stub}}{{Manhattan-struct-stub}}2. ^Zylbercweig, Zalmen (1934).
