She posted a lifetime best of 1:32.92 to edge out Rwanda's Pamela Girimbabazi for a seventh seed by nearly 18 seconds. Shakya failed to advance into the semifinals, as she placed forty-seventh overall in the preliminaries.[3][4] She was also a member of the Nepal basketball team until 2014.[5][6] References1. ^{{cite sports-reference|Nayana Shakya|https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/sh/nayana-shakya-1.html|5 May 2013}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Shakya, Nayana}}{{Nepal-swimming-bio-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|title=Swimming – Women's 100m Breaststroke Startlist (Heat 1)|url=http://www.omegatiming.com/File/Download?id=00010406000E000000FFFFFFFFFFFF00|format=PDF|work=Athens 2004|publisher=Omega Timing|accessdate=24 March 2013}} 3. ^{{cite web|title=Women's 100m Breaststroke Heat 1|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/olympics_2004/swimming/results/3535098.stm|work=Athens 2004|publisher=BBC Sport|date=15 August 2004|accessdate=31 January 2013}} 4. ^{{cite news|last=Thomas |first=Stephen |title=Women’s 100 Breaststroke Prelims: Aussies Hanson and Jones Qualify One-Two |url=http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/7809.asp |publisher=Swimming World Magazine |date=15 August 2004 |accessdate=19 April 2013 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20060703013421/http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/7809.asp |archivedate= 3 July 2006 |df= }} 5. ^{{cite web|url=http://kathmandupost.ekantipur.com/news/2014-12-13/prime-white-house-claim-titles.html|title=Shakya retires|date=13 December 2014|publisher=The Kathmandu Post|accessdate=4 December 2015}} 6. ^{{cite news|title=Nayana Shakya retires from swimming|url=http://www.myrepublica.com/portal/index.php?action=news_details&news_id=43211|publisher=República|date=8 September 2012|accessdate=6 May 2013}} 9 : 1982 births|Living people|Nepalese female swimmers|Olympic swimmers of Nepal|Swimmers at the 2004 Summer Olympics|Swimmers at the 2002 Asian Games|Female breaststroke swimmers|Sportspeople from Kathmandu|Basketball players at the 2014 Asian Games |
