Neil Sabatino is an American musician. He is lead singer of Fairmont, and the founder of Mint 400 Records.

Early work

In a 2010 interview with Jersey Beat, Sabatino recalls watching a friend perform the Guns N' Roses' song "Sweet Child O' Mine" at a school talent show, and growing the desire to start a band. He bought a bass guitar, and practiced "for a week and somehow had transposed everything I knew on keyboard to bass and was writing songs. I talked a friend of mine into playing drums and from then on I have always been in a band for 20 years now."{{sfn|Parciak|2010}}

In the late nineties, Sabatino played in the punk rock bands Stick Figure Suicide and Little Green Men, and in 2000, he joined Pencey Prep, a post-hardcore and punk rock band that was fronted by future My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero, as the lead guitarist.{{sfn|Draisin|2008}} Pencey Prep was signed to Eyeball Records later that year, and they played local shows with the Strokes, Nada Surf and Atom & His Package.{{sfn|Dylan|2007}}{{sfn|Pencey Prep Members|2001}} Sabatino appears on both of Pencey Prep's releases, Long Walk to Forever and Heartbreak in Stereo.{{sfn|AllMusic|2008}} He left the group in 2001, and the following year, Pencey Prep disbanded.

Fairmont

Sabatino signed with Reinforcement Records in 2001 as Fairmont, which was initially a acoustic solo project.{{sfn|Draisin|2008}} It soon became a full band by the time of their second release, Anomie, with former Pencey Prep bassist John McGuire joining shortly after. Sabatino's vocals have been described as resembling "a lovesick teen in the throes of puberty," and a "husky melodic musing."{{sfn|Testa|2003}}{{sfn|Draisin|2009}} They have made multiple tours across the United States, and released ten full-length albums, as well as six EPs.{{sfn|Wien|2011}}

Other work

Vocalist Teeter Sperber of Ladybirds approached Sabatino in 2007, to appear on the electro pop album Regional Community Theater, and the two share vocals on the song "Lady of Travel and Leisure." In 2011, Sperber and Sabatino released the EP Grape Soda as Mergers & Acquisitions. Sabatino authored and illustrated the comic The Black Hat, which was published in 2012.{{sfn|Dittmeier|2014}} He also designs album covers for the Mint 400 Records label.

Mint 400 Records

Sabatino founded Mint 400 Records in 2007.{{sfn|Parciak|2010}}{{sfn|Hortillosa|2011}} As of 2019, the label has made over two-hundred releases.
