Vivacity or Joy) was a reformist and moderate Persian language newspaper published in Iran and headquartered in Tehran. History and profileNeshat was launched by Hamid Reza Jalaipour in February 1998[1] after two other reformist papers, Jamee and Toos, were closed down.[2][2] In addition, it was the successor of the latter.[3] Neshat was based in Tehran.[4] Latif Safari was the publisher and director of the daily.[6][7] Mashallah Shamsolvaezin served as the editor-in-chief of the paper.[5] Most of the editors were those who had written for Jamee and Toos newspapers.[4]The paper, a reformist and moderate publication, was banned on 4 September 1998.[6] It was again banned by the Iran's Press Court in September 1999 following the publication of articles which had challenged the death sentence in Iran.[4][7] In addition, there were a total of 74 charges against the paper.[8] Due to these charges the paper was found guilty of "insulting the sanctity and tenets of Islam."[9] In November 1999 Mashallah Shamsolvaezi was also arrested and taken to Evin prison due to the articles mentioned above.[10] He was sentenced to three years in prison.[11] The publisher of the daily, Latif Safari, was also sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison in April 2000 for publishing the articles.[12][13] The ban was lifted by Iran's supreme court in March 2005.[14] However, it was again shut down later.[5] In September 2013 it was reported that Neshat would be relaunched and its license holder would be Morteza Fallah.[15] In addition, Mashallah Shamsolvaezi would resume his post as the editor-in-chief of the paper and Ahmad Sattari would be its managing editor.[15] However, the necessary publication was not granted by the authorities.[16] See alsoList of newspapers in IranReferences1. ^{{cite journal|author=Gholam Khiabany|author2=Annabelle Sreberny|title=The Iranian Press and the Continuing Struggle Over Civil Society 1998-2000|journal=International Communication Gazette|year=2001|volume=63|issue=2-3|url=http://gaz.sagepub.com/content/63/2-3/203|accessdate=27 December 2013}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Neshat}}2. ^{{cite web|title=Three reformist papers shut|url=http://www.iran-press-service.com/articles/reformist_papers_closed_23400.htm|work=Iran Press Service|accessdate=18 October 2013|date=23 April 2000}} 3. ^{{cite book|author=David Menashri|title=Post-revolutionary Politics in Iran: Religion, Society, and Power|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=s5ys1_DjhtYC&pg=PA326|accessdate=23 September 2014|date=January 2001|publisher=Psychology Press|isbn=978-0-7146-5074-6|page=326}} 4. ^1 2 {{cite journal|author=A.
