词条 | New Harbour (Antarctica) |
释义 |
Explorers Cove indents the harbor at its northwest head. Explorers Cove was named in 1976 by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in recognition of the large number of explorers that have worked in the vicinity of this cove.[2] Quinn Gully, an ice-free gully at the lower end of Taylor Valley, descends to the seashore here.[3] On the north side of the entrance is McClintock Point, named by US-ACAN in 1997 for James B. McClintock, Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, who studied the benthos of McMurdo Sound west of Ross Island and along the coast from Granite Harbour to Cape Chocolate, including extensive work in New Harbour in proximity to this point.[4] References1. ^{{cite gnis | type = antarid | id = 10654| name = New Harbour| accessdate = 2018-08-27}} {{USGS}}{{coord|77|36|S|163|51|E|source:GNIS|display=title}}{{ScottCoast-geo-stub}}2. ^{{cite gnis | type = antarid | id = 4699| name = Explorers Cove | accessdate = 2018-08-27}} 3. ^{{cite gnis | type = antarid | id = 17413| name = Quinn Gully | accessdate = 2018-08-27}} 4. ^{{cite gnis | type = antarid | id = 17402| name = McClintock Point | accessdate = 2013-09-05}} 3 : Bays of Victoria Land|Scott Coast|Ports and harbours of the Ross Dependency |
