He plays at flanker for the {{Rut Bulls}} in Super Rugby, the {{Rut Blue Bulls}} in the Currie Cup and the {{Rut Blue Bulls XV}} in the Rugby Challenge. CareerMatiesDe Jager played Varsity Cup rugby with Stellenbosch-based university side {{Rut Maties}} in 2012 and 2013. In 2012, he made six appearances during the competition to help Maties all the way to the final. He also featured in the final, coming on as a late replacement, but could not prevent his side losing 21–29 to {{Rut UP Tuks}} in Pretoria.[1] He made three appearances in the round-robin stage of the 2013 Varsity Cup, which again saw Maties lose to UP Tuks in the final. SaracensHe then moved to English Premiership side Saracens in late 2013.[2] He was included in their squad for the 2013–14 LV Cup and made two appearances for the side. His first class debut came in their 41–8 victory over the Newcastle Falcons,[3] where he was named Man of the Match.[2] He made a further two appearances in the competition, a 16–20 defeat to Northampton Saints in the last round of the pool stages[4] and a 7–26 defeat to the same opposition in their Quarter Final clash.[5] He made a further six appearances in the 2014–15 LV Cup.[6] He scored his first career try in their final pool stage match against the Exeter Chiefs, one of two tries he scored in the match to help Saracens to a 35–18 victory.[7] He also scored a try in the final of the competition – again against the Exeter Chiefs – to help Saracens win the trophy for the first time since 1998.[8] He made a solitary appearance for Saracens in the 2014–15 English Premiership (rugby union), playing the first 48 minutes of their match against the Newcastle Falcons.[9] He also played two matches for Old Albanian during the 2014–15 National League 1. Blue BullsHe returned to South Africa in August 2015 to join up with the {{Rut Blue Bulls}} prior to the 2015 Currie Cup Premier Division. He signed a one-year contract with the Pretoria-based side.[10] References1. ^{{SA Rugby Match Centre | id=110091 | homeid=10601 | awayid=10581 | leagueid=1071 | hometeam=Tuks | homescore=29 | awayscore=21 | awayteam=Maties | matchdate=9 April 2012 | date=14 April 2016}} {{Bulls squad}}{{Blue Bulls squad}}{{Blue Bulls XV squad}}{{DEFAULTSORT:De Jager, Nick}}2. ^1 {{cite web | url=http://www.saracens.com/trainers/nick-de-jager/ | title=Saracens Nick de Jager | work=Saracens | accessdate=4 August 2015 | deadurl=yes | archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20150223212200/http://www.saracens.com/trainers/nick-de-jager/ | archivedate=23 February 2015 | df= }} 3. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.premiershiprugby.com/matchcentre/fixtures/30442.php | title=Saracens 41 Newcastle Falcons 8 : Match Centre | work=Premiership Rugby | date=26 January 2014 | accessdate=4 August 2015 | deadurl=yes | archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20150924103751/http://www.premiershiprugby.com/matchcentre/fixtures/30442.php | archivedate=24 September 2015 | df= }} 4. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.premiershiprugby.com/matchcentre/fixtures/30517.php | title=Northampton Saints 20 Saracens 16 : Match Centre | work=Premiership Rugby | date=1 February 2014 | accessdate=4 August 2015 | deadurl=yes | archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20150924103809/http://www.premiershiprugby.com/matchcentre/fixtures/30517.php | archivedate=24 September 2015 | df= }} 5. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.premiershiprugby.com/matchcentre/fixtures/match_centre_anglo_welsh.php?section=overview&fixid=190547 | title=LV= Cup : Match Centre | work=Premiership Rugby | date=8 March 2014 | accessdate=4 August 2015}} 6. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.itsrugby.co.uk/player-30963.html | title=Nick de Jager Stats | work=It's Rugby}} 7. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.premiershiprugby.com/matchcentre/fixtures/34818.php | title=Saracens 35 Exeter Chiefs 18 : Match Centre | work=Premiership Rugby | date=8 February 2015 | accessdate=4 August 2015}} 8. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.premiershiprugby.com/matchcentre/fixtures/35333.php | title=Saracens 23 Exeter Chiefs 20 : Match Centre | work=Premiership Rugby | date=22 March 2015 | accessdate=4 August 2015}} 9. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.premiershiprugby.com/matchcentre/fixtures/squads.php?player=115358&includeref=dynamic | title=Premiership Rugby Player Profile : Stats | work=Premiership Rugby | accessdate=4 August 2015}} 10. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.supersport.com/rugby/sa-rugby/news/150804/Bulls_sign_Saracens_loosie | title=Bulls sign Saracens loosie | work=SuperSport | date=4 August 2015 | accessdate=4 August 2015}} 6 : Saracens F.C. players|South African rugby union players|People from Johannesburg|1990 births|Living people|Blue Bulls players |
