Nino Surguladze (Georgian: ნინო სურგულაძე; born in Tbilisi, Georgia) is a Georgian mezzo-soprano. BiographyBorn in Tbilisi, Nino Surguladze studied singing with Guliko Kariauli at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire.[1] After winning a prize at the Francisco Viñas International Singing Contest in Barcelona, she earned her a scholarship at {{Interlanguage link multi|Accademia Teatro alla Scala|it}},[2][1][3] where she studied with Leyla Gencer and Luciana Serra.[4] She made her operatic debut as Cuniza in Verdi's Oberto and Zulma in Rossini's L'italiana in Algeri in Milan in 2002,[5][6] and since appeared in many opera houses around the world She has appeared in the Italian film {{Interlanguage link multi|Rigoletto a Mantova|it}} and the Georgian films Valsi Pechoraze[7] and Metichara.[8] In 2010, she was awarded the Presidential Order of Excellence by Mikhail Saakashvili.[9][10] Nino Surguladze is a founder of the charity foundation Desire Tree, which aims to provide assistance to children in need of medical care.[11][12] Operatic repertoireBellini
