Nitin Bhatia is a director & founding member of the Indian operations of Meltwater Group. Meltwater being a Social Media Analytics & Big Data Analytics company, Nitin has been frequent in the media circuit as an expert in Digital Media Monitoring and Marketing.

Early life

Nitin was born and raised in Ranchi, Jharkhand where his father has a business.

He went to St. Anthony's School and pursued his senior secondary schooling in commerce from Delhi Public School, Ranchi.

He completed his Graduation in International Business & Finance from Jamia Millia Islamia in 2005 and studied Development Communication from AJK, Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. He is believed to be sharing the bench with MS Dhoni during his school days.[1] Nitin has represented Jharkhand in various Badminton - Inter State Tournaments. An avid sportsman in his early college days, he also represented Jamia Millia Islamia University in All India Inter University Tournaments.

Work

Nitin Bhatia started his career as a Program Officer in Alternate Media with Butterflies. Where he worked closely with street and working children. He helped them understand and use the power of mainstream media.[2][3]

Having his interest in the mainstream media, Nitin worked for Asian News International (ANI) in Delhi for 4 years, where he was producing shows like MyIndia, Kashmir Now, Badalta Manzar & Buis Week Asia. He was also a mainstream anchor for most of the weekly shows produced at Asian News International. During his stint with ANI, he also contributed as a voice-over artist, and was a preferred voice by many producers in the organisation.[4]

After ANI, Nitin joined Meltwater, a leading media intelligence and social monitoring agency, in 2010. He has worked in different roles within the organisation, such as Sales Consultant, Manager Client Acquisitions - Indian Operations, Director - Agency Partnerships [India], Managing Director - Executive Alerts [India]. Meltwater recently elevated Nitin as Sales Director, Social & New Markets. Fondly known and 'Mr. Bean of Digital Marketing' in India, Nitin was involved in setting up the company's Agency Partnership Division and had also taken up a leadership role to launch Meltwater's AI based Executive Alerts product in India in 2017.

Nitin has also been a regular faculty member at various educational institutions such as the National Institution of Mass Communication, AJK, Mass Communication Research Centre & IMS Learning Resources Pvt Ltd. Students at these institutions regard Nitin quite highly because of his vast knowledge in mass media and digital marketing, as well as due to his highly motivational talks.

Awards and recognition

Nitin's film Dodh Ha Yemberzal (Narcissus on Fire) was awarded the Best film in Marginalized Section in National Students Video Film Festival, Jahangirabd, Uttar Pradesh in 2006.[2]

Power to Children is an AV directed by Nitin & Produced by Butterflies, NGO was awarded the Second Most Innovative Project in the World in the Global Development Network in Japan in 2007.[5][6]
