释义 |
Archaeological excavations from 1950 show that the site has been occupied since at least the eighth century. Around 1300 a moat was dug, and later in the century the first stone buildings were erected to make a moated manor house. It was demolished in the eighteenth century. In 1935 the land was purchased by the local authority for public open space.[4] The site has meadows, scrub, woodlands, wetlands and ponds. There is access from Court Farm Road.[1] {{commons category|Northolt Manor}}References1. ^1 {{cite web|url= http://www.lnr.naturalengland.org.uk/Special/lnr/lnr_details.asp?C=0&N=northolt&ID=315|title= Northolt Manor|series=Local Nature Reserves|publisher=Natural England| date = 6 March 2013 |accessdate= 24 May 2014}} 2. ^{{cite web|url= http://magic.defra.gov.uk/MagicMap.aspx?startTopic=Designations&activelayer=lnrIndex&query=REF_CODE%3D%271009051%27|title=Map of Northolt Manor|series=Local Nature Reserves|publisher=Natural England| accessdate= 24 May 2014}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.gigl.org.uk/online/site-Details.aspx?sID=EaBII04&sType=sinc|title=Northolt Manor and Belvue Park|publisher=Greenspace Information for Greater London|year=2013|accessdate= 24 May 2014}} 4. ^{{cite encyclopedia|encyclopedia=British History Online|publisher=Institute of Historical Research|title=A History of the County of Middlesex: Volume 4: Harmondsworth, Hayes, Norwood with Southall, Hillingdon with Uxbridge, Ickenham, Northolt, Perivale, Ruislip, Edgware, Harrow with Pinner|url=http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=22427|year=1971|pages=113-116|first=T.
