Omar Fadel is an American award winning, Los Angeles based composer for film, television, and video games. He is also a multi-instrumentalist, whose scores frequently feature him on a wide array of instruments, including guitar, piano, cello, drums and percussion. Omar’s work can be heard in numerous films, television shows and video games, namely the global game franchise Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, The Dictator, and the Oscar nominated film, Day One.

Career

Film/TV/Video Game Work

His film credits include the award winning films The Taqwacores,[1][2] Just Like Us [3] and the first Arabic language feature film from Walt Disney Pictures, The United.[4][5] In 2012 Omar co-wrote "The Song of Admiral General Sargeant Aladeen" on the soundtrack of the film The Dictator with composer Erran Baron Cohen. In 2015, Omar composed the score to the Oscar nominated film, Day One.

In addition to his film work, Omar has scored several television shows, most notably, the Mike Judge produced ABC animated sitcom, The Goode Family, and NBC’s Phenomenon. Omar’s music is also frequently licensed to unscripted television programming including: The Daily Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, X Factor, Dateline, Shedding for the Wedding, The Shahs of Sunset, Millionaire Matchmaker.

In 2013, Omar arranged and composed additional music for Black Flag.

Trailer and Commercials

In addition to his film and TV work, Omar has also scored numerous high profile commercials (Blue Cross Blue Shield, IKEA, Netflix, Hyundai, McCormick Spices, Subaru) and countless film trailers (Transformers, Argo, Shadow Recruit, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Blood Diamond, 47 Ronin, Body of Lies).

Awards

In 2013 Omar was awarded a composer fellowship by the Sundance Institute.[6][7]
