The Omega 1 franchise was developed by Mark Edward Lewis and Alina Andrei in 2007.^[1] Alina and Mark have mentioned in various interviews including candid interviews at the various comic cons they attend that the franchise of Omega 1 began at a Denny's restaurant in Encino, CA in March 2007,^[2] following Alina's strong YouTube response in a fan film playing Wonder Woman.^[3] Initially, the two creators wrote a 6-episode webisodic series. This quickly turned into a 2-hour television pilot screenplay^[4]

History

Lewis and Andrei decided to create a comic book adaptation of the screenplay. After over a year of searching for an artist who could illuminate their vision, Emmanuel Xerx Javier, of the Philippines, was chosen. Lewis adapted the screenplay into four issues for Javier to draw and color.

The synopsis of the first few issues of the comic are as follows: In the near future, the planet is ravaged by humanity’s worst fear: World War III. But this is not a war of bombs and bullets, it is a war of information and governments and the global corporate sector has had no success in finding the leader of the attack, IBRAHIM ANWAR. After twenty years of waiting, REV. DR. MICHAEL BERTRAND, the head of a super-secret UN facility, ETHOS, designated to train the world’s most genetically perfect children to become an elite fighting force, finally receives his shot at saving the world. With his now mid-thirties wards who are hyper fast, can dodge bullets, draw metal objects to themselves and can strategize better than a five-star general, he sets about searching and destroying the hacker hubs and eventually ending the global extortion of the “Hacker War.” None of these super elite warriors are better than the beautiful and genetically perfect OMEGA. But when the bickering between ETHOS siblings escalates, Ibrahim takes command of the situation and is able to use his hacking technology to turn the ETHOS warriors on each other. Omega is able to break the spell, only to have to fight the forces of Ibrahim but also those of her sibling-equals. Can Omega best her siblings and the hacker forces and take Anwar into custody or will she be destroyed in the process?

Following the completion of Issue 1 in 2010,^[5] Marty McDonough, CEO of Odyssey Studios, agreed to develop iOS apps for the comic book. Odyssey Studios remains the publisher of Issue 1 through 4 on the Apple iBookstore.

Lewis' production of Motion comics of the franchise commenced under the LEM Studio Productions label. Lewis engaged the services of Emmy award-winning editor Sven Kamm to direct the installment for Issue 3. Due to Kamm's creative additions, the Motion Comic took several visual leaps in production value. In October 2012, Motion Comic Issue 3 was completed and premiered at the 2012 Stan Lee's Comikaze convention in Los Angeles, CA.^[6] By this time, the comic book version of Issue 4 was in pre-release. Production on the Motion Comic by LEM Studio Productions and Lewis began.

In February 2013, the fourth installment of the motion comic series, dubbed "Volume 2: Destiny Revelations",^[7] was completed. It was followed shortly thereafter by the release of the entire Motion Comic series on DVD including commentaries with the creators of the Motion Comic and special features.^[8]

Although the majority of the artwork of the comic book series was authored by Emmanuel Xerx Javier, additional alternate covers have been completed by Marat Mychaels, Alfred Trujillo and Jamie Tyndall (colored by Nei Ruffino).

Appearances

The creators of Omega 1 make regular appearances at SouthWest States comic conventions,^[9][10] although their first appearance was at Dallas Sci-Fi Expo ^[11] where fans' response to the newcomer comic franchise was well received. Most comic conventions have found similar strong response the franchise.^[12][13] Omega 1 creators also appear at various local comic book stores where Omega merchandize is sold for signings and promotions.
