It is visible to the naked eye with an apparent visual magnitude of 4.94.[3] Based upon an annual parallax shift of 3.59 mas,[ it is estimated to lie roughly 950 light years from the Sun. Relative to its neighbors, this star has a peculiar velocity of {{Val|25.7|2.2|u=km/s}}.[8]]This is a somewhat evolved B-type subgiant star with a stellar classification of B2.5 IV.[4] Telting and colleagues report it as a Beta Cephei variable with a high degree of confidence as they found regular pulsations in its spectrum in a high-resolution spectroscopy study published in 2006.[7] Its brightness varies irregularly by 0.034 magnitude every 1.137 days.[26] References1. ^1 {{citation | title=XHIP: An extended hipparcos compilation | last1=Anderson | first1=E. | last2=Francis | first2=Ch. | journal=Astronomy Letters | volume=38 | issue=5 | pages=331 | year=2012 | bibcode=2012AstL...38..331A | doi=10.1134/S1063773712050015 | arxiv=1108.4971 | postscript=. }} 2. ^1 {{citation | title=A systematic study of variability among OB-stars based on HIPPARCOS photometry | journal=Astronomy and Astrophysics | display-authors=1 | last1=Lefèvre | first1=L. | last2=Marchenko | first2=S.
