}} The pale-faced bulbul (Pycnonotus flavescens leucops) is a songbird in the bulbul family. It is endemic to the island of Borneo.[1] Taxonomy and systematicsThe pale-faced bulbul is a distinctive subspecies of the flavescent bulbul and is considered by some authorities as a full species, Pycnonotus leucops.[2] DescriptionAt 17.5–19 cm long the pale-faced bulbul is smaller than the other subspecies of the flavescent bulbul, which reach 21.5–22 cm in length. Its colouring is mainly brown or grey-brown, darker above than below, with a white or whitish face and throat, and bright yellow undertail-coverts.[2] Distribution and habitatThe bulbul is found in the mountains of Borneo in montane primary forest, ranging in altitude from about 900 m to 3500 m above sea level.[3] References1. ^{{cite book |title=Phillipps’ Field Guide to the Birds of Borneo |authors=Phillipps, Quentin; & Phillipps, Karen |year=2011 |series= |publisher=John Beaufoy Publishing |location=Oxford, UK |isbn=978-1-906780-56-2 |pages= |url= }} {{Taxonbar|from=Q15708211}}{{Pycnonotidae-stub}}2. ^1 {{cite web |url= http://www.hbw.com/species/flavescent-bulbul-pycnonotus-flavescens|title= Flavescent Bulbul |accessdate=2013-11-16 |work=HBW Alive |first= |last= |publisher=Lynx Editions |date=2013 }} 3. ^{{cite book |title=The Birds of Borneo |authors=Smythies, Bertram E.; & Davison, Geoffrey W.H. |year=1999 |series= |publisher=Natural History Publications (Borneo) and the Sabah Society |location=Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia |isbn=983-812-028-6 |page=465 |url= }} 3 : Endemic birds of Borneo|Pycnonotus|Birds described in 1888 |
