The community was named for its founder, Swedish settler Anna Palm, a widow with six sons, who arrived in 1853. The family lived in tents, and eventually built a house.[2] The Palm family was shortly followed by other Swedish immigrants. The Palm Valley Lutheran Church was built in 1872 and doubled as a schoolhouse. In 1970, the church was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark.[3] Anna's son Andrew J. Palm built his own home in 1873. The house was moved to Round Rock in 1976. Two years later the home was also designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and is open to the public as the Palm House Museum.[4] During its populous years, Palm Valley was primarily a Swedish community. It has since become a ghost town.[5] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://factfinder2.census.gov|publisher=United States Census Bureau|accessdate=2011-05-14|title=American FactFinder}} {{Williamson County, Texas}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Palm Williamson County Texas}}2. ^{{Find a Grave|35245031|Anna Palm}} 3. ^{{cite web|title=Palm Valley Lutheran Church|url=http://atlas.thc.state.tx.us/viewform.asp?atlas_num=5491009317&site_name=Palm%20Valley%20Lutheran%20Church&class=5000|publisher=Texas Historical Commission|accessdate=21 February 2012}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=RTHL AJ Palm House-Museum|url=http://atlas.thc.state.tx.us/viewform.asp?atlas_num=5491009316&site_name=Palm%2C%20Andrew%20J.%2C%20House&class=5000|publisher=Texas Historical Commission|accessdate=21 February 2012}} 5. ^{{cite web|last=Leffler|first=John|title=Palm Valley, Williamson County, Texas|url=http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/hvp04|work=Handbook of Texas Online|publisher=Texas State Historical Association|accessdate=21 February 2012}} 6 : Ghost towns in Central Texas|Populated places established in 1853|Recorded Texas Historic Landmarks|Unincorporated communities in Texas|Swedish-American culture in Texas|Swedish-American history |
