McEvedy attended St Patrick's College, Wellington from 1895–98, before going to Guy's Hospital in London to train as a doctor.[2] [3] He toured New Zealand in 1904 with David Bedell-Sivright's British team and again in 1908 with the Anglo-Welsh team. He later returned to Wellington and was Wellington Rugby Football Union President 1931–33, and NZRFU President 1934–35.[4] McEvedy ShieldThe McEvedy Shield was donated by McEvedy in 1922. It is an annual athletics competition held in Wellington, New Zealand, for four of the region's boys' secondary schools. It is one of the largest annual athletics meet in the Southern Hemisphere, in terms of its number of athletes competing.{{cn|date=February 2018}} References{{Commons category|Pat McEvedy}}1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.scrum.com/churchillcup/rugby/player/1664.html|title=Pat McEvedy – Rugby Union – Players and Officials|work=ESPN scrum|accessdate=2 February 2018}} {{British and Irish Lions 1904}}{{British and Irish Lions 1908}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Macevedy, Pat}}{{NewZealand-rugbyunion-bio-stub}}2. ^{{cite news|title=Rugby, 6 April|year=1903|newspaper=Sportsman, London}} 3. ^{{cite news|title=The County Championship, 6 April|year=1903|newspaper=Athletic News, Manchester}} 4. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.spcob.org.nz/SITE_Default/news_and_events/newsletter_archive/march02.asp |title=McEvedy Shield |accessdate=2009-05-29|publisher=spcob.org.nz |deadurl=bot: unknown |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20100523185441/http://www.spcob.org.nz/SITE_Default/news_and_events/newsletter_archive/march02.asp |archivedate=23 May 2010 |df=dmy-all }} 7 : 1880 births|1935 deaths|New Zealand rugby union players|Rugby union forwards|British and Irish Lions rugby union players from New Zealand|Rugby union players from Wellington City|People from the Hawke's Bay Region |
