He played in the number 8 (and occasionally lock) position for the provincial based ITM Cup side Otago, and was the captain for the side during 2012 and 2013.[1] He was captain when Otago lifted the Ranfurly Shield for the first time in 57 years.[2] He has also represented New Zealand in sevens rugby since 2008. In October 2013, it was announced Paul Grant would leave Otago in November 2013 to join French club Montpellier.[3] In April 2014, it was announced that Grant had signed with Nottingham for the 2014-15 season.[4] References1. ^{{cite news | url=https://www.odt.co.nz/sport/rugby/rugby-otago-itm-cup-squad-be-named-next-week | title=Rugby: Otago ITM Cup squad to be named next week | date=24 July 2013 | newspaper=Otago Daily Times | first=Steve | last=Hepburn | accessdate=4 September 2018 }} 2. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.odt.co.nz/sport/rugby/270246/how-otago-won-shield | title=How Otago won the Shield | date=25 August 2013 | accessdate=18 April 2014 }} 3. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.odt.co.nz/sport/rugby/282665/rugby-departing-otago-captain-fires-salvo | title=Rugby: Departing Otago captain fires salvo | date=23 November 2013 | accessdate=18 April 2014 }} 4. ^{{cite web | url=https://www.bbc.com/sport/0/rugby-union/26961927 | title=Paul Grant: Montpellier back row signs Nottingham Rugby deal | date=9 April 2014 | accessdate=18 April 2014 }} External links
