According to Bally's 2003 Securities and Exchange Commission 10-K report, Toback served as the director of administration for the then-mayor of Chicago, Richard M. Daley until 1993. After 1993 he became the executive assistant to the chief of staff Mack McLarty, who served under President Bill Clinton, for the next two years,[7] where he worked on the North American Free Trade Agreement.[8] From 1995 to mid-1997, he was also the COO of a private company known as Globetrotter Engineering in Chicago. In 1997 he began to work at Bally.[9] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2005/09/15/bally-totally-unfit-part-1.aspx|title=Bally Totally Unfit: Part 1|last=Meyers|first=Lawrence|publisher=The Motley Fool|date=September 16, 2005|accessdate=April 17, 2011}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Toback, Paul}}2. ^{{cite web |url=http://print.onecle.com/contracts/bally/toback.emp.2004.08.24.shtml |title=Chief Executive Officer Employment Agreement |publisher=Bally Total Fitness Corporation |date=August 24, 2004 |accessdate=April 20, 2011}} 3. ^{{cite web |url = http://www.fitcommerce.com/Blueprint/WebControls/Announcements/ViewAnnouncement.aspx?ItemID=1068&mid=112&portalId=2&tabindex=0&cid=112 |title = Paul Toback Resigns as CEO of Bally Total Fitness, Stock Plunges, What's in Store for Its Future |publisher = Fitcommerce.com |accessdate = April 17, 2011 |deadurl = yes |archiveurl = https://web.archive.org/web/20110723205820/http://www.fitcommerce.com/Blueprint/WebControls/Announcements/ViewAnnouncement.aspx?ItemID=1068&mid=112&portalId=2&tabindex=0&cid=112 |archivedate = July 23, 2011 |df = }} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20060111005767/en/Bally-Announces-Appointment-Lead-Director-Establishment-Special|title=Bally Announces Appointment of Lead Director and Establishment of Special Committee to Lead Strategic Process|publisher=Bally Total Fitness Corporation|date=January 11, 2006|accessdate=April 17, 2011}} 5. ^{{cite web |url=http://business.highbeam.com/398/article-1G1-140953515/tug-war |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20121011141532/http://business.highbeam.com/398/article-1G1-140953515/tug-war |dead-url=yes |archive-date=October 11, 2012 |title=Tug of War |last1=Meyers |first1=Lawrence |last2=Fischbach |first2=Amy Florence |publisher=Fitness Business Pro |date=January 1, 2006 |accessdate=April 21, 2011}} 6. ^{{cite news |url=http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2006-01-21/business/0601210063_1_bally-shareholders-toback-pardus-capital-management |title=No disrespect intended, Bally critic says of CEO |first=Mike |last=Hughlett |publisher=The Chicago Tribune |date=January 21, 2006 |accessdate=December 4, 2011}} 7. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.clintonschoolspeakers.com/lecture/view/public-service-private-sector/|title=Public Service in Private Sector|last=Toback|first=Paul A.|publisher=The Clinton School of Public Service|date=September 19, 2006|accessdate=April 17, 2011}} 8. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20030320005324/en/Bally-Total-Fitness-Holding-Corporation-Names-Paul|title=Bally Total Fitness Holding Corporation Names Paul Toback, Stephen C.
