Strong winds, high temperatures, low humidity and extremely dry conditions caused the fire to grow quickly. By around 7:00 pm, the fire reached 200 hectares and had burned a path towards Okanagan Lake. 1,550 residents were evacuated. 4 homes were burned along with 3 outbuildings. 70 Firefighters, 17 structural fire protection units and six helicopters fought the fire at its peak. Light rainfall and cooler temperatures help bring the fire under control the next day. External links
