It grows to 40 cm high and has leaves with 5 to 7 shallow lobes.[1] Dark pink flowers appear between October and February in the species native range.[2] The species was first formally described in 1838 by English botanist John Lindley in the second volume of Thomas Mitchell's Three Expeditions into the interior of Eastern Australia.[3] It occurs on rocky slopes in forested areas of New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.[1] In cultivation, the species prefers a sunny position with good drainage. It tolerates a variety of soil conditions as well as periods of dryness and frost. It is suited to rockeries and can be grown in containers.[4] References1. ^1 {{cite web |url=http://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/NSWfl.pl?page=nswfl&lvl=sp&name=Pelargonium~rodneyanum |title=Pelargonium rodneyanum |accessdate=6 November 2011|author=|work= PlantNET - New South Wales Flora Online |publisher=Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust, Sydney Australia}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q7161194}}{{Geraniaceae-stub}}2. ^{{cite book |title=Wild Plants of Victoria (database)|year=2009 |publisher=Viridans Biological Databases & Department of Sustainability and Environment}} 3. ^1 {{cite web |url=http://www.anbg.gov.au/cgi-bin/apni?TAXON_NAME=Pelargonium+rodneyanum|title= Pelargonium rodneyanum |accessdate=6 November 2011 |work= Australian Plant Name Index (APNI), IBIS database|publisher = Centre for Plant Biodiversity Research, Australian Government, Canberra}} 4. ^{{cite book|author=Greig, D.| title=The Australian Gardener's Wildflower Catalogue| publisher=Angus & Robertson|location= Australia | year=1987 | isbn=0207154600}} 4 : Pelargonium|Flora of New South Wales|Flora of South Australia|Flora of Victoria (Australia) |
